Maths, Computation and Flamenco.
J.M. Díaz-Báñez and N. Kroher
University of Seville.
Lambda World: A functional programming, Cádiz. In this talk we show some links between flamenco music, mathematics and computer science and give some examples on the study of flamenco music from a technological perspective. In particular, we analyze the specific geometric properties of flamenco rhythmics and we show some tools for the automatic description of flamenco pieces that can be applied for estructural segmentation, melodic similarity and query by humming, among others. In order to transmit the flamenco essence, for every topic we illustrate the flamenco concepts with live performances with guitar, singing and dancing. Our research is developed in the Project Cofla.
